Lajos Ujvári's memorial exhibition
The new exhibition of the Hungarian Academy of Arts presents the rich oeuvre of painter Lajos Ujváry (1925–2006), the legendary teacher of the Secondary School of Fine and Applied Arts, through nearly one hundred works on the 5th floor of the Pesti Vigadó.
Curated by Márton Barabás, Munkácsy Mihály Prize-winning painter and full member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, the exhibition features a representative selection of works created at the most important and defining locations of Ujváry’s artistic career. The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of an outstanding artist’s life’s work, while also highlighting his influential teaching activity, which played a significant role in shaping generations of students at the School of Fine and Applied Arts.
The exhibition opens immediately following the presentation of works by Ujváry’s master, István Szőnyi, and will be on view from 24 June to 30 August 2026.
