Concert and dance production
Ferenc Liszt’s Rákóczi March is a well-known musical work. Not long ago it served as the opening music of cinema newsreels, and even today the morning broadcast of Kossuth Radio begins with this melody.
This year marks the 350th anniversary of the birth of Prince Ferenc II Rákóczi, who was born on 27 March 1676 in Borsi, in the historical Upper Hungary region.
On 9 May at 7 pm, the Pesti Vigadó presents a musical and dance production that highlights the cultural connections and symbolic “handshakes” within our heritage.
The four-hand piano version of the Rákóczi March by Liszt, performed by pianists Zsuzsanna Bódás and Emőke Rázó Tóth, will be accompanied by contemporary dance by the Dezső Fitos Company.
Singer Réka Juhász, together with recorder players Dénes Juhász and Zoltán Juhász, will not only perform the folk variants of the Rákóczi tradition but also evoke their Eastern parallels.
Folk tradition is brought to life through authentic dances, revealing the symbolic handshakes and the unique richness of our culture.
