From Algorithms to Artificial Intelligence – Digital Art Triennial Szekszárd–Budapest
Szekszárd / Budapest, 2026 – One of the most significant national and international showcases dedicated to the fusion of technological development and visual arts, the Digital Agora – 4th International Digital Art Triennial, has reached an important milestone. The fourth edition of the event series, launched in 2015, not only presents the latest trends in digital art – including the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) – but also celebrates a decade-long success story.
Where Tradition Meets Innovation
The historic city of Szekszárd, renowned for its wine culture and vibrant cultural life, has been an important stronghold of graphic arts since the 1990s. The Digital Agora International Triennial series was established as the intellectual successor to the former national colour print exhibitions organized by the Association of Hungarian Graphic Artists. The initiative was created through the collaboration of the Magyar Elektrográfiai Társaság (MET), the City of Szekszárd, and the Babits Mihály Cultural Centre. Through the partnership spanning 2015–2025, the four triennials have become an essential international platform for electronic and digital art.
A World-Renowned Artist and Emerging Technologies: Highlights of the 2025 Edition
The thematic category of the fourth triennial pays tribute to the internationally acclaimed Hungarian-born artist Vera Molnár, who passed away at the age of 100.
A large number of submissions arrived for the two open calls (open and thematic categories): 150 Hungarian and 33 international artists submitted their works.
Key professional innovations of the 2025–2026 triennial include:
The exhibited works range from digital prints and animations to video art, light installations, and mobile objects, representing the artistic visions of creators from 20 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea.
“The triennials, organized in three-year cycles, continue to offer surprises thanks to the rapid evolution of technology. It is impossible to rank the previous editions, as each reflected the freshest contemporary artistic approaches of its own time. Today, Digital Agora has become a vibrant palette offering meaningful experiences for all generations, while building a bridge between traditional artistic values and the technologies of the future.”
