Bolba Éva Trio

The Bolba Éva Trio offers audiences a distinctive and engaging musical journey. Their repertoire combines original compositions with jazz standards, reimagined in a unique and personal voice. These songs come to life through the refined and creative arrangements of Gábor Cseke. Enriched with both vocal and instrumental improvisation, their program highlights the diversity, vitality, and ever-evolving nature of jazz.

Their program Transcript revisits some of the most iconic and exciting jazz standards, newly interpreted through Cseke’s arrangements. Alongside these, the trio also presents their own compositions. For those drawn to expressive, dynamic, and at times deeply emotional musical storytelling—as well as to inspiring, richly nuanced improvisational artistry—this performance promises a truly rewarding experience.

The ensemble:
Although all three members are active participants in numerous other musical projects and bands, the Bolba Éva Trio is a true passion project for them. Having performed together for many years, they share a deep personal and artistic bond. They are not only colleagues but also friends—an intimacy that creates a warm, atmospheric sound world, gently guiding the listener into a clear and refined musical landscape.

Members:

Éva Bolba – vocals
In 2021, she won Best Film Score at the Shoot4Earth global competition, presented within the Cannes Global Short Film Awards. In 2025, she appeared in the historical drama Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt, where she portrayed a singer alongside Academy Award-, Golden Globe-, and Primetime Emmy-winning actor Rami Malek. The film premiered in Hungarian cinemas on 1 January 2026.

Gábor Cseke – piano
An outstanding composer and pianist. He joined the Budapest Jazz Orchestra in 2001, and later became a permanent member and arranger of the Modern Art Orchestra, where he remains a defining figure. Between 2004 and 2006, as a member of Mihály Borbély’s ensemble, he received the eMeRTon Award as a contributing pianist on the Jazz Album of the Year. In 2008, he was awarded the Artisjus Prize for his outstanding work in promoting Hungarian musical works.

Sándor Sárkány – double bass
As a member of the Benkó Dixieland Band, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Since 2001, he has been a member of the Cotton Club Singers and also performs with the Micheller Myrtill Band. He has shared the stage with internationally renowned artists such as George Duke, Peter Erskine, and Chris Potter.
