Cinema at the Vigadó
Mihály Szentmártoni was born in Novi Sad in 1945. He studied philosophy, theology and psychology in Zagreb, and has lived in Rome since 1991, where he works as a university professor and clinical psychologist. His principal field of research is the dialogue between psychology and theology. In 2025, during the Jubilee Year, he celebrated his 80th birthday. His greatest wish is that, at the end of his life, he may be able to say: "My life was a gift."
His book The paths of seeking God, first published in Hungarian in 2000, explores the complexities and challenges of religious experience. Through the milestones of an extraordinary life, this documentary portrait reveals the profound faith of the distinguished scholar and Jesuit priest.
Following the screening, Jesuit priest Mihály Szentmártoni will be joined in conversation by Sándor Buglya, Balázs Béla Prize-winning film director and cinematographer.
